This project comprises a website redesign of a small home-based business. The client currently offers home parties and host events at local and other small businesses in Navarre, Florida.
Assessment.
The business focuses on providing creative group painting parties. The site captures the whimsical and artsy style of the female owner.
The website directs the viewer with step-by-step directions, testimonials, a canvas slideshow, an extensive art gallery, calendar, and blog with email subscription options. The owner desired to displaying satisfied customers enjoying a fun atmosphere.
Improvement.
Original site built with Weebly Basic and a free hosting package. The new site continues to use this website builder per client request. The initial site displayed a bold yet lackluster appearance. The bright yellow background distracted website visitors, thus the information regarding the business became overshadowed. The redesign contains a bright color palette that is aesthetically pleasing while maintaining a professional look. The original business logo provided inspiration.
Must Haves.
Must-Haves include a calendar of upcoming events, painting examples, art gallery, photos of customers, and easy-to-follow directions.
Development.
Links to social media include a hidden/side slide tab. Photoshop Elements software provides for the creation of some page headers. The website includes image optimization and responsive design.
This redesigned occurred in 2014. However, the business owner continues to keep the redesigned website layout, and she conducts the maintenance and updates.
Take Aways.
All websites need proper maintenance and upkeep on both the front and back-end of the site.
Content should be updated frequently to appease website visitors, and updating back-end files aid in providing proper security from hackers, search engine optimization, and meets current mobile responsiveness.
